Foundation
The Perna Foundation is a non-profit organization meant to promote the culture and contemporary art of Mediterranean countries. Established in 2006 by Giovanna Perna, it acts as a true observatory in the Mediterranean, encouraging research and investigation in the art sector for this region, which is so rich in history and culture.

The Perna Foundation’s mission is to invite artists from the world of contemporary visual arts – mainly from countries lying on the Mediterranean Sea – to reflect on and analyze, through their pieces, different social, intellectual, and communicative aspects relating to their individual cultures.

For this purpose, the foundation selects a group of artists every year and commissions a series of pieces that focus on the Mediterranean theme in its many different contexts, and through a wide array of outlets including photography, painting, sculpture, installation art, and video.
